Understanding The Disney Vacation Club And Disney Timeshares

Posted on

The Disney Vacation Club is designed to give Disney lovers the best value for their money when it comes to visiting Disney properties. Whether you are a timeshare owner looking to resell your timeshare, or you are interested in investing in a Disney timeshare yourself, you have choices. The Disney Vacation Club is one of the largest point-based timeshare programs in the travel industry and owners of Disney timeshares have the ability to resell timeshares when the product no longer suits their vacationing needs. Disney approves all timeshare resales, as they have the right to first refusal when you want to sell your timeshare. Disney may buy back the timeshare, or agree to the sale outright.

Your Home Resort and Your Disney Vacation Club

When you invest in the Disney Vacation Club, you choose a home resort for your accommodations. While you can secure lodging at a different resort, you will get priority when it comes to booking during popular vacation times at your home resort. Disney timeshares can be hard to come by, as the only way to get one is if someone decides to resell their existing membership.

Understanding Your Disney Vacation Club Points

The Disney timeshare works on a point system. You get a new number of points annually, and these are used to purchase your accommodations when you are ready to book your vacation. You can stock up and save your points to give yourself an even bigger vacation next year or you can even borrow points from the allotment you receive in the new year. Points can only be banked as long as it is August or earlier in the year the points were allotted, while points can only be borrowed if you make a reservation that requires more points than you have. You can save up to three years of points, and use them all at the same time.

When You Still Need More Points

One of the perks of the Disney Vacation Club is that if you need additional points for your reservation and you aren't able to borrow enough, you can purchase additional points up to 24 a year from Disney. The reservation must be within seven months and if you cancel the reservation, your one-time point purchase expires at the end of the year.

If you are a big fan of Disney vacations, it's time to consider a Disney timeshare. Invest in a yearly vacation and it will be easier to budget your next stay at a Disney resort.
